After some administrative hurdles, we are delighted to finally welcome Prajna Bandyopadhyay to Namur as a new PhD student in the LAB!
Prajna investigates how environmental stressors affect rest–activity patterns and behavioural flexibility in aquatic organisms. Using the upside-down jellyfish (Cassiopea xamachana) as a model species, she explores how artificial light at night and pharmaceutical pollution influence rest, behavioural adaptation through experience, and the recovery of biological rhythms following environmental change.
Her research will help us better understand how disruptions to biological rhythms and behaviour may affect the resilience of aquatic organisms in an increasingly disturbed world. Prajna is co-supervised by Prof. Lendert Gelens (KU Leuven, Belgium).
Welcome to the team, Prajna! We are very happy to have you on board and look forward to seeing your project take shape.
