We are very happy to welcome Armelle Tomasevszky, who joined the LAB as a new PhD student on 1 September!

Armelle investigates how environmental disturbances affect biological rhythms and behaviour in freshwater organisms. Her PhD project focuses on artificial light at night and pharmaceutical pollution, exploring how these stressors influence daily activity patterns in fish and how changes in biological timing may affect interactions between species.

Using zebrafish and water fleas as model organisms, her research aims to improve our understanding of how pollution disrupts biological rhythms and the potential consequences for freshwater ecosystems. She is co-supervised by Dr. Charlotte Theys (KU Leuven, Belgium).

Welcome to the team, Armelle! We wish you a rewarding and exciting PhD journey.
