We’re looking for an enthusiastic MSc student for a 6-month internship starting February 2026!
The project is all about the impact of plastic and pharmaceutical pollution on the symbiotic microalga Symbiodinium microadriaticum, a key organism for photosymbiotic cnidarians. You will explore how fluoxetine (an antidepressant) and microplastic fibers—both conventional and biodegradable ones—affect microalgal physiology and photosynthesis.
You’ll be involved in controlled exposure experiments, analysing oxidative stress using flow cytometry, and using PAM fluorescence measurements to monitor photosynthesis. We also encourage you to bring your own perspectives and approaches to the project!
