I am happy to say that I will be joining the Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee of AQUAPLAST, a newly approved Moerman-funded research project coordinated by the Walloon Institute for Evaluation, Forecasting and Statistics (ISSeP).
The project focuses on microplastic contamination and its biological effects in the River Meuse, with particular attention to the influence of wastewater treatment plant discharges. By combining field sampling with controlled laboratory bioassays, AQUAPLAST aims to improve our understanding of how microplastics interact with freshwater ecosystems.
I’m glad to be involved in this project and to contribute, in an advisory capacity, to research that sits at the interface of ecotoxicology and environmental management.
