New paper in Proceedings B: about chemicals and biological invasions

Our latest review, published in Proceedings of the Royal Society B, explores how chemical pollution and biological invasions – two major drivers of global change – interact to shape ecosystems.

While both stressors are well known to affect wildlife and ecosystem health, their combined impacts are still rarely studied. In this paper, we synthesize existing knowledge to discuss how pollutants can influence each stage of the invasion process, potentially altering interactions between native and non-native species.

By identifying key knowledge gaps, we highlight the importance of studying these pressures together to better understand – and ultimately mitigate – their effects on biodiversity in a human-modified world.
